WOMACK PHELPS OBTAINS DISMISSAL OF VEIL PIERCING CASE

WOMACK PHELPS successfully defended their clients in the case of Fulmer et al. v. Hurt et al. before the Arkansas Court of Appeals. The plaintiffs obtained a judgment against a limited liability company in another suit and then sought to enforce the judgment against the members of the LLC. The plaintiffs’ effort to pierce the veil of the LLC to force the individual members to pay for the judgment was dismissed on summary judgment grounds. The Arkansas Court of Appeals unanimously affirmed the judgment in favor of the defendants in an opinion delivered on March 1, 2017. The Court maintained that a plaintiff in a veil piercing effort must demonstrate fraud, illegal conduct or abuse of an entity for the specific purpose of injuring a party. Ariel J. Snyder Joins WPM

The Jonesboro law firm of WPM recently added Ariel J. Snyder as an associate attorney.

A native of Imboden, Snyder (formerly Ariel Burns) is a 2008 graduate of Arkansas State University where she earned degrees in philosophy and Spanish. Snyder obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law earlier this year as an honor graduate. She served as associate research editor of the University of Arkansas Little Rock Law Review and also completed an externship for Judge D.P. Marshall at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. In addition, she participated in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen Legal Clinic as a Rule XV Law Student representing indigent clients; was 2012 president of the Student Chapter of the Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers; was chosen by the faculty as a Graduation Marshal; and externed at the Medical Legal Partnership at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

July 1, 2011- WPM has recently announced the addition of Wade Bowen as an associate attorney in the Jonesboro, Arkansas office. A native of Jonesboro, Mr. Bowen is a 2007 cum laude graduate of the University of Arkansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. Wade obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2010, where he was a member of the Journal of Food Law and Policy. Wade furthered his legal studies at Southern Methodist University, where he received his Master of Laws in Taxation in 2011. Mr. Bowen is licensed to practice in Arkansas, and is a member of the American, Arkansas, and Craighead County Bar Associations. Womack Elected Arkansas Bar Association President-Elect Designee

Firm president Tom D. Womack was elected to serve as Arkansas Bar Association President-Elect Designee on October 31, 2009. Womack is an active member of the Association's Board of Governors, a Sustaining Member of the Association, and a Sustaining Fellow of the Arkansas Bar Foundation. He has served as chair of the Probate and Tax Law Section and recently received the Association’s Charles L. Carpenter Award. Womack will assume the office of President-Elect at the Association’s June 2010 Annual Meeting.
